Tamsulosin works by reducing muscle tone in the prostate and urethra.
This facilitates the passage of urine through the urethra and thus facilitates the process of urination.
Tamsulosin is used to treat lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia.
The effect persists with long-term treatment and can significantly delay surgery.
