Olfen contains diclofenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). This medication works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase, which causes pain and inflammation.
NSAIDs inhibit cyclooxygenase (COX)-1 and -2, the enzymes responsible for the production of prostaglandins (PGs). Prostaglandins contribute to inflammation and pain signals. Olfen also has a sustained-release effect that helps provide longer-lasting pain relief.
Olfen has antipyretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
