Desmopressin is a synthetic analogue of the natural pituitary hormone vasopressin arginine. The difference lies in the removal of the amino acid from the cysteine ​​and the replacement of the arginine with D-arginine.
It is indicated for the treatment of:
Primary nocturnal enuresis (involuntary bedwetting) in children (aged 5 years and older) and adults (aged 65 years and older).
Do not use desmopressin in:
Habitual or psychogenic polyuria (resulting in urine output exceeding 40 ml/kg/24 hours)
A history of known or suspected heart failure and other conditions requiring diuretic therapy
Moderate and severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 50 ml/min)
Known hyponatremia
Syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion (SIADH)
Hypersensitivity to desmopressin or any of its excipients
