Gracial® is used for accidental contraception.
Desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol are combined oral contraceptive pills containing the female hormones progesterone and estrogen.
Desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol pills work by:
Suppressing the gonadotropins, thus preventing ovulation and preventing pregnancy.
Preventing ovulation (the release of an egg from the ovary).
Changes occur in the cervical mucus, making it difficult for sperm to enter the uterus.
Changes occur in the uterine lining, reducing the likelihood of implantation.
