A bronchodilator with a potent antispasmodic effect.
For the treatment of bronchial obstruction such as chronic obstructive bronchitis and bronchial asthma.
Bronchodilation after inhalation of ipratropium bromide is local and localized to the lungs, not systemic.
It does not affect airway secretion, mucociliary transport, or gas exchange.
It can be used with adrenergic agonists.
The result is a more potent and prolonged bronchodilation. The effect occurs within 15 minutes, reaching maximum effect after approximately 1–2 hours, with a duration of up to 4–6 hours.
