Levothyroxine is a thyroid hormone medication used to replace the body’s lack of thyroid hormone. It is used to treat the following conditions:
Hypothyroidism, a condition in which the thyroid gland produces less than normal thyroid hormone. The function of thyroid hormone is to regulate metabolism. Symptoms of hypothyroidism include cold intolerance, muscle aches, hair loss, a deep voice, fatigue, weight gain, dry, flaky skin, and a slow heart rate.
