This medicine is a combined oral contraceptive pill (“the pill”).
You take it to prevent pregnancy.
These low-dose pills contain two types of female sex hormones, estrogen and progestogen.
These hormones prevent the release of an egg from the ovaries, so you cannot get pregnant.
It also makes the fluid (mucus) in the cervix thicker, making it difficult for sperm to enter the uterus.
These pills are 21-day pills – you take one pill every day for 21 days, followed by 7 days when you don’t take any pills.
